Objectives At the end of the lesson, students should be able to: A. enumerate the guidelines in writing paragraph; B. define explanatory paragraph; C. identify the order of a sample paragraph; D. equate the least important details and most important details on the given paragraph; E. appreciate simple thing around them by giving each meaning and significance in their lives; and F. write paragraph/exclamatory paragraph about the origin of their names. II. Subject Matter Topic: Expressing Opinion in Writing Reference: English Expressways III (pp. 121-122) Materials: Printed Visual Aids III. Procedure Teachers Activity A. Motivation: I will let you go out for 5 minutes and look for simple thing that you can see outside and bring inside our room. Now, look closely to those simple thing that you picked outside. tell me why you picked those and tell it·s significance in your lives or any memory that remind about those things. -A white stone: I picked this stone because it·s a white stone. A tiny white stone. There are many things that a stone can do. Without a stone, we can·t build houses, big buildings and of course, we don·t have something to hit our enemies. It·s just prove that big things came from a simple things.

-Right, It·s a paragraph that explains or clarifies something. It may explain a certain belief or opinion or a fact. Here are guidelines in writing paragraphs. -write a topic sentence for each paragraphs. -list down the reasons why you feet that way. -arrange notes in the order of importance (least to most important details or most to least important details ) -write the first draft. -read the paragraph again; ask these questions: y Did I begin with topic sentence? y Are my reason logical? How Are the arranged? y Should I add more details or cross out any? Read this sample paragraph. Our family enjoys playing scrabble on Saturday evenings. We think scrabble is not only enjoyable, but also educational. We k now that it can improve word power, but what we like beat about the game is how draws everyone in the family together even for a little while. Questions: -Observe the arrangement of the details. D. Application I·ll group you into 4 and each group will be assigned a type of writing you want to produce.

V. Assignment -look for a sample essay. Identify the type of essay where Sample was written. State the type of writing it produces on its message.
